In this series, the design of each piece is separated into layers, much like in the print process. Each layer contains one part of the design, and when the layers are put together in the wooden base, the design comes alive.
It is an exploration of the transparency of glass, playing with volume and perspective. The challenge was to work with transparency, not as the absence of color, but as a way of adding depth through optical mixing, which allows the multi dimensional nature of glass to emerge.
Because layers can be easily detached from the wooden base, the design can be endlessly rearranged, allowing the viewer to create different configurations. In this way, each piece allows for a dynamic and personalized design. Users can change the original design by rotating the panels, changing the stacking order of the layers, the sequence (in the pieces with two or more panels across), and more.
